Leeds, West Yorkshire, England - 02/16/17

Leeds is a city in West Yorkshire, England. Leeds was initially the name of a wooded area in the realms of the Elmet Kingdom, which later turned out to become a city.  The name Leeds derives from the old Brythonic word "Ladenses" meaning "people of the fast-flowing river", in reference to the River Aire which flows through the city. Leeds is also connected to Liverpool, our antipenultimate stop, through the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, which is 127 miles (204 km) long and crosses the country from Liverpool, Merseyside to Leeds, West Yorkshire. A curious fact: The Canal could also cut through Preston but the Liverpool committee was unhappy with the route originally proposed, considering that it ran too far to the north.

Leeds has the most diverse economy in all of the UK, being the only city outside London to host the Eurogamer Expo. Also after London, Leeds is the largest legal and financial centre in the UK. The city currently has a population of 798,800 making it the second biggest in England after Birmingham (our next stop). London boroughs are counted separately.

Many game companies have studios in Leeds, including Activision and Rockstar. Besides the art of videogames, Leed was also place to the first ever moving pictures, - in 1888 by a French inventor called Louis Le Prince.

Here we are! Leeds, Yorkshire, England

This is the entire Journey until now. We came from Maine, US, all the way to Gaerwen, Wales, UK, crossed the Atlantic, and are now proceeding our adventure around the globe

As always, we stopped at the Leeds Central Library to pick something to read. The building next to the library is an Arts gallery * The party gains one additional INT point.

It's also important to stop by the museums and see what new things you can learn from the city. - Leeds city museum. - The museum is divided into several galleries, including: Life on Earth gallery, Ancient Worlds gallery, World View gallery and Leeds Story gallery

Some habiticans though it would be good to stop at the local Trinity shop, Leeds largest shopping center, to buy new shoes! - It also has a very large walking area for us to test and loosen them a little.

Leeds is known for it's ringed roads, we just begin to imagine what they look like.

This is the Leeds Liverpool canal, 127 miles (204 km) long, and as the name suggests, it crosses the country from Liverpool, Merseyside to Leeds, West Yorkshire. - We decided it would be fun to get our feet wet. - The party feels the energy emanating from the waters and is reinvigorated!
